How to Use

〜と〜とどちらが is used to ask which of two things is better, preferred, or has a certain quality.


🔹 Basic Meaning


  • “Which is more …, A or B?”
  • “Between A and B, which …?”


🔹 When to use 〜と〜とどちらが


  • To compare two items
  • To ask which one is better, bigger, faster, liked more, etc.
  • Often used with adjectives like 好き, 大きい, 高い, いい
  • Very common in questions (N5)

コーヒーとお茶とどちらが好きですか。
→ Which do you like more, coffee or tea?

日本と韓国とどちらが近いですか。

Use this pattern only when comparing two things.
For three or more items, use どれが instead.
